Cricket Club

I came to the hotel just before two last night, a bit tired and with a hurting stomach. I woke up this morning feeling ok - I was very relieved that my stomach had calmed down.

Around lunchtime I took a tuktuk to Barefoot to make sure to get some proper coffee and a nice lunch. stayed some hour there waiting for my stomach to calm down - didnt really like proper food... or coffee. Had done a budget and a shopping plan for the day earlier in the morning but realized that I had to minimize the shopping and basically just bought movies and two seasons of Modern Family, then went back to the hotel and watched the series - needed to rest.
At the cafe I met a friend from before and we decided to meet up later this evening with my other friend from before. And I was so happy the place we choosed was the Cricket Club - nostalgia! There I have had many nice dinners with friends and lunches with my older brother - nice indeed.
Tomorrow I plan to take a walk on the beach in the morning and then meet up with Dan and relax somewhere nice. Im happy to be here but even happier to be getting back home soon. I think my stomach also look forward as well.
Tomorrow late night I will head out to the airport and 4 in the morning the next day the plane departs. Jippie!

Still dirty but calmer

<
Later he fell asleep under my chair, very nice indeed.

Full of Love and happiness!

<
Maylam came back from an escursion wet and smelling like something dead and ofcourse tried to jump up in my knee! So then I also smelled very bad but who can be upset on such a lovely creature.

The puppie and the slippers

<
Here he is, the cutie! And his owners are really nice people, so no need for feeling bad about him now.

Maylam

Finally the power is back and I enjoy the fan and the fact that Internet is working again. Im now staying at my friend Dan’s house in BAtti and its big and has a high standard – very nice. I came here on Thursday afternoon and later the same evening I started to feel not so good. Since then I have practically been laying in bed or been running to the toilet – one of the worst stomach problems I have ever encountered! So had fever and slept more or less until this morning. Now Im feeling much, much better but still very cautious on what Im eating.

I had to cancel all my plans for yesterday… Sanoon asked if he should help go to the hospital – but I said come on – I have coca-cola, I will make it through.

This morning  I woke up, had some toasted bread and then came Rama and Surangani – two old friends from before. Rama cleaned the house and Surangani were there as a moral support – and to meet me. Then we got another guest – little Maylam, a puppie from the neighbours. He stayed the whole day until I heard the neighbours caling his name with some tension in their voices… so apparently he was “kidnapped” by some people in the neighbourhood and put in a cage last week. So he is still  a bit skinny but very sweet. And after a coffe at the neighbours they asked me to dogsit their two dogs while they went away. Malyam is sleeping on the floor and Johnny is outside – he doesn’t like Maylam plus he is taught not to enter the house. Johnny is an old dog and very sweet as well but I think he went back to his house ;-).

So the plan is now to go back to Colombo tomorrow evening but now I just heard of some election violence in Colombo and curfew, so maybe not. There has been local municipality election in the west today.

Ok, the neighbour just came back to get Maylam to the veterinary for his vaccinations. Apparently he was saved a little more than one month ago from starving to death. So he has had a very dramatic life so far!

I have now access to cable TV, big kitchen (with food in it), nice bed and a hot shower! And, not to forget – wifi!

Money Honey!

Im sitting outside and writing. Because its dark I have taken out my bedside lamp so that i can see better. Because of this there are now at least ten different types of insects that crashes into the lamp or move around me and my computer… What to do? I have to confess that I kind of look forward to go back home – I’m tired to be travelling alone and tired of all the insects- I’m homesick. I just paid my bill and realized that I have stayed here for nearly three weeks with full board for less than 250 euros/2500 spänn.

I will move to a friend’s house down in Batti for the weekend – I think, or maybe I go to Colombo this weekend, since my friend might be stuck there until next week. So will let you know ;-).

Yesterday was indeed an interesting day, where I really felt I almost got identified. If you know what I mean.  Later when we visited this beach I’m telling you it was breathtaking but on the other hand I walked there and got pissed off because no people can enter this beautiful place – except us and army apparently, hehe.

Went down to Batti today and for the first time succeeded to take out money from an ATM. If you travel to Sri Lanka don’t bring your VISA card, bring your MasterCard. But I finally found a bank that accepted VISA – very good.

The thundering just started out over the sea, so guess it might rain later tonight. This morning I woke up early and its was cool and fresh in the air but oh, the shower was coooold. But at least I woke up properly.

Somehow the intake of sweets and other food has increased the longer I have been here- they feed me with stuff – and I cant say no because then they will get disappointed. So I think my weight watcher action was in vain… But at least I have a nice tan, so I don’t complain too much.

Tropic rain

<
On the way back the clouds gathered and it started to rain a little, a bit later the tropical rain came. It rain so much and so hard that I had to move from the vernada because my computer got wet. Of course it was power cut as well. And thunder - lots of thunder. But now its nice and cool -. and the electricity is back again.

Search and you will find

Two beaches

< Im standing on one beach taking a photo of the boys standing on the other side - so cool!

The perfect beach

<
Freaking perfect beach! I took all of the cool fotos with the camera only a few with the iPhone (which is the blogg camera), but wow, I just wanted to jump into the water.

Beatiful perfect beach

<
Heard afterwards that the story/explanation what I did there was that "Since me and Sanoon got to know each other at a wedding in Sweden ;-) He had invited me to see SL" and therefore we were permitted to see this beach that is usually just for the army. Beautiful place!

New School

<
Made a quick stop to see the new school in Vakari. Just to make sure that noone miss the fact how close EU is to this country they made three huge thingies likes this in three languages. It was a huge school as well but no pool as the rumor has said.

Förmiddagsfika

<
En Srilankesisk klassiker - short eats. Of course served on yesterdays news.

New Bridge

<
hereis the new bridge we went over today by three wheeler! No more boat ferry.

The Verugal river ferry

<
last time i went over this river I put the Landcruiser on this little ferry. It was pulled by handcraft in the wires that made the little ferry move.

Kockosnöt!

<
insåg att jag var i fara då jag insåg att jag stod under ett väääldigt högt palmträd och man vill inte få en kockosnör i huvudet... Har man hört dunsen efter att en kockosnöt landat vet man att den kommer tungt... In english, you dont want to get a coconut in your head.

Kycklingar

<
tittade til en cooperativ som tillsammans har en kycklingfarm - dessa är dagens tillskott.

Almost four legs

<
I met this dog today, he protected the compound with passion and confidense - beautiful dog, no! When he didnt protects the compound from other dogs, he slept very peacful beside me. And yes, he was actually born with only two thirs of a leg. He can walk on it, it has the same texture (it looked the same at least) as they have under the paw. But mainly he was running around on three legs. Now when looking at the picture the tail also look a bit short...

200 packs of Samahan!

<
This is better than any pill - the samahan powder! So now I got two hundred small packs in two bigger boxes- wonder if its enough. So Urban, Katrin, Julia, Ebba and Astrid- please let me know your estimated consumtion for this winter ;-).

Singing Fish Flipflops :-D

<
<
Recived a really nice gift today - a pair of flipflops with the particular symbol for this district, or actually I think its the main city Batticaloa sign - the singing fish. Nice

Canoe fishing

Finally we caught a ride back to mainland

<
We waited more than an hour to get a seat on a boat back. There were a lot of pictures taken by everyone on everyone today. Nice day!

Fishing business

<
Here is full action, with newly catched fish being weighted and sold to the fishing dealer. The guy in yellow and the guy with long sleves under a dark t-shirt are the ones who catched these big fishes - with a small boat.

Deep sea fishing boat

<
This might wake up vivid memories for my mom ;-). This is a typical boat which they use to fish out in the deep sea. Either they go out in the afternoon and stay until the next morning, or they leave in the early morning and stay out for several days at sea.

An IKEA table

<
In the midst of everything I realized that the facilitator of the meeting was sitting on a small IKEA table! I asked how it got there and they say it came from Malaysia... The umbrellas are use for sun protection.

Quite nice place

<
The women met under the shadow of the trees. The kids were sitting on the yellow boat , so did me and S after his chair broke... It was such a beautiful place. In the background you might be able to see lots of boats going out for fishing, they stay out fishing and come back the next morning.

Going to Nasivantivu

<
Aparently this place is an island, so we took this boat, they just left when we arrived there, so of course they turned around so that we could join them.

Something I wished I hadn't seen

<
This is what breaks my heart... The little puppie to the left looks like Lola when I got her, skinny but so far healthy, still possible for this puppie to get a healthy life but if you look at the right this is how most probably the little puppie will look like in a few weeks. I just were standing looking at them thinking if I should save another dog... Closed my eyes and walked away. I feel terrible.
