Maylam
Finally the power is back and I enjoy the fan and the fact that Internet is working again. Im now staying at my friend Dan’s house in BAtti and its big and has a high standard – very nice. I came here on Thursday afternoon and later the same evening I started to feel not so good. Since then I have practically been laying in bed or been running to the toilet – one of the worst stomach problems I have ever encountered! So had fever and slept more or less until this morning. Now Im feeling much, much better but still very cautious on what Im eating.
I had to cancel all my plans for yesterday… Sanoon asked if he should help go to the hospital – but I said come on – I have coca-cola, I will make it through.
This morning I woke up, had some toasted bread and then came Rama and Surangani – two old friends from before. Rama cleaned the house and Surangani were there as a moral support – and to meet me. Then we got another guest – little Maylam, a puppie from the neighbours. He stayed the whole day until I heard the neighbours caling his name with some tension in their voices… so apparently he was “kidnapped” by some people in the neighbourhood and put in a cage last week. So he is still a bit skinny but very sweet. And after a coffe at the neighbours they asked me to dogsit their two dogs while they went away. Malyam is sleeping on the floor and Johnny is outside – he doesn’t like Maylam plus he is taught not to enter the house. Johnny is an old dog and very sweet as well but I think he went back to his house ;-).
So the plan is now to go back to Colombo tomorrow evening but now I just heard of some election violence in Colombo and curfew, so maybe not. There has been local municipality election in the west today.
Ok, the neighbour just came back to get Maylam to the veterinary for his vaccinations. Apparently he was saved a little more than one month ago from starving to death. So he has had a very dramatic life so far!
I have now access to cable TV, big kitchen (with food in it), nice bed and a hot shower! And, not to forget – wifi!
